Glowing Plant Based Eatery had been rated one of the best vegan restaurants in Los Angeles by both Yelp and Trip Advisor. Despite these rave reviews, the business struggled to appear in search engine results for its respective market.
An SEO site audit identified Glowing’s JavaScript-laden homepage as the primary barrier to search engine visibility, but an opportunity lay within the problem itself: While the home page’s menu obscured the site's visibility, individual menu items were appearing in SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).
This suggested that every menu item could be optimized, creating a massive opportunity to boost Glowing’s online presence.
To begin, I asked management to identify five items that would be in high demand in the lucrative spring and summer months. I then produced keyword-optimized copy for each item's description.
SEO demands semantic "themes" for a page to perform well in google searches, and the theme for The Summer Sampler became each items' respective wellness benefits.
Each menu item's combination of health benefits (i.e "no added sugar" or "immune functions") and niche ingredients (acai berries, gotu kola),essentially resulted in their descriptions being long tail search keywords that nearly wrote themselves.
SEO is of course a marathon and not a sprint, but preliminary returns indicate that Glowing is getting the attention it deserves.
