"The Power of Us"

Berkeley Shakespeare Company wanted to cap off a successful 2022 season by recounting the year's victories to its listserv and build anticipation for its upcoming productions.
Formed just the year prior, the company was a newcomer to a competitive and saturated market full of quality theater, so building brand awareness was of paramount importance.

The only hope for Berkeley Shakes to stand out was to synthesize the many facets of its identity into a single, compelling story.

Fortunately, the company’s nascence proved to be a powerful storytelling force for its brand. They began the year rehearsing in a board member’s living room, but thanks to donations from local businesses, volunteer labor from local artists and even assistance from other theater companies, Berkeley Shakes ended 2022 with a production staged in the heart of downtown Berkeley.

In short, the season’s success was both emblematic of and made possible by the values it sought to uphold, and the community it sought to foster.

And so it became clear that there was a single idea to unify the story of Berkeley Shakespeare Company’s 2022 season: “The Power of Us.”
